The Fishers

Meet the owners, Jim and Lucy Fisher...

Jim is the chef, teacher and marketing whizz and has worked with TV chefs Rick Stein, Alistair Little and Tony Tobin. He ranks his mother ("an imaginative and prolific home cook”) as his greatest early influence. He believes that local seasonal food is best and that cooking should be fun!

Lucy has variously been a butcher and a high-powered PA in the City of London. She takes care of the day-to-day running of the Fisher's busy business.

Millenium move pays off...

Jim, Lucy and their then 8 year old daughter, Jenny, left the UK in 2000 with the express intention of setting up a cookery school in France. Having found and converted a dilapidated 17th C farm, the Fishers opened the doors to the Cookinfrance kitchens and have never looked back.

Over 2,5K budding chefs and keen amateur cooks have had the Cookinfrance experience...

Since then, those doors have welcomed in the region of 2,500 students from all around the world. All have taken something unique away with them, be it increased kitchen confidence, a host of fresh cookery skills, or even just a whole bunch of new like-minded friends.

Touchingly, a few wave goodbye with a tear in their eye vowing to return for ‘round two’.

Current projects...

Lately, Jim and Lucy have been expanding their repertoire of courses to include Cookinfrance’s flagship Famous Last Suppers - Titanic’s Final Banquet events (timed to coincide with the centenary in April of the great liner’s launch) and their racy Cooking As Foreplay course designed specifically for lovers of all ages during Valentine’s week.

Another exciting recent outlet is a flurry of TV appearances, promotional videos, video recipes, and articles in the national press.

Most notable of these are an episode for Travel Channel’s Wild Camping series and a video collaboration with journalist and broadcaster, Richard Johnson culminating in the Cookinfrance promotional video.

Articles in this year’s Financial Times and the Mail on Sunday have served to bolster an ever-increasing awareness of Jim’s profile and the Fisher’s activities in general.

Photography, painting & renovating old ruins (no, not Jim & Lucy)...

All this, and they still somehow find time to run their ever popular painting and photography workshops, continue renovations to their former farm and visit their daughter, Jenny, who is now a full-time London fashion model.
